For a couple of years after we went nut free, I missed granola bars. This is why finding gluten free, nut free granola bars always makes me one-click and try them out. Today, I’m here to review my latest purchase, FreeYumm Chocolate Chip Oat Bars.
Even if you’re not a nut free or gluten free household, these are great because you can send them to nut free schools in your kid’s lunches. Read on for more information about these tasty granola snacks.
Here’s what FreeYumm Chocolate Chip Oat Bars are free from:
- Tree nuts
These come in Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Honey Apple, and Raspberry flavors. I have only tried the Chocolate Chip version, however.
These bars are delicious, though not what I expected. Instead of a crunchy treat like the Nature Valley Granola bars I used to love as a kid, these are chewy. That said, they are moist, dense, and surprisingly filling even though they’re small. The chocolate chips are non-dairy and remind me of the Enjoy Life morsels I use in baking. The flavor is nice and oaty, not too sweet like some other treats I’ve tried.
One of the things I like about these is the short list of ingredients. There are no artificial flavors or colors, just natural and sustainable ingredients. They’re packaged in nice bright colors, too, which makes it easy to know which flavor is which if you get more than one.
How I use this
The big drawback here is the size of the bars. They’re quite small, only weighing in at just under an ounce. That said, they are great to pack in snacks bags on drives with a piece of fruit. Usually, I bring fruit snacks with Kiddo’s apples, oranges, and bananas but those have a lot more sugar than these.
Overall, I like FreeYumm Chocolate Chip Oat Bars and would get this brand again on occasion to add variety to my child’s snack options. You can try them yourself by clicking here.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions in the comments.
