Allergy Free School Snacks: Enjoy Life Lentil Chips

I used to eat sour cream flavored snacks all the time as a kid, especially with dill. It’s a flavor that always reminds me of my grandpa and our weekend afternoons watching westerns together. Back then, he’d help me sneak some home so I could take them to school in my lunch. I’m so happy the same flavor exists for allergy free school snacks.

Free-From Allergens

Here’s what Enjoy Life Lentil Chips are free from:

  • Peanuts
  • Tree nuts
  • Dairy
  • Egg
  • Shellfish
  • Gluten
  • Soy
  • Wheat
  • Fish
  • Sesame
  • Sulfites

These savory chips are all dairy-free and their flavors are Sour Cream and Dill, Garlic and Parmesan, Light Sea Salt, Margherita Pizza, Moroccan Spice, Thai Chili Lime, and a variety pack.

They taste something like this but without the allergy-inducing dairy.

These chips are totally dairy free. When I tried them, I couldn’t tell the difference between the creamy flavor of the non dairy sour cream or parmesan and the real thing. We got the variety pack, which comes with twenty-four snack sized bags.

However, this didn’t let me try everything. Kiddo claimed all of the Margherita Pizza Flavor bags for her school lunches. She is so happy to have chips with some variety at lunch instead of just plain potato chips. These are healthier too, with more protein and fiber yet fewer carbohydrates.

How I use this

These are great allergy free school snacks. Yes, the bags are small. You’re not going to be eating them in front of the TV on family Netflix night. There is a 4-ounce package but that’s still not quite enough for the whole family unless you pair them with popcorn.

You can buy the chips by clicking here. We’re pretty happy with these lentil chips for school lunches. Is this something you might try? Have you bought these before? Tell me about it in the comments.

The Best Baking Flour for Diabetics and Allergies

In addition to family members with allergies, we also have to cook and bake for people with diabetes. This is a special challenge, since most of the low glycemic recipes I’ve come across use almond flour. But take heart, Allergy SuperParents. There is a baking flour for diabetics that’s also allergy free and it’s made from sunflower seeds.

I’m reviewing Gerbs sunflower seed meal today. But if you can’t get their brand in your country, don’t worry. Other companies have started offering sunflower seed meal and it works similarly. This stuff only has 4 net carbs per serving and no added sugar, just like no sugar added sunflower seed butter. Continue reading The Best Baking Flour for Diabetics and Allergies
